Packages — fixed combinations
Updated on 2026-09-03
A package is a fixed combination of services: "cut + colour + blow-dry" as a single choice for the client, with one price. On the booking page they are called Packages.
Menus form a choice tree. There are two kinds, and the difference is not a checkbox but the place in the tree:
- a choice step is a question put to the client — coupe en kleuring, then man or woman. It sells nothing itself and therefore has no price and no services;
- a package sits at the end of such a branch and is what the client actually books: a fixed bundle at one price.
A menu with nothing underneath it is a package. Put another menu underneath and it becomes a choice step.
Where do I find it?
Diensten & prijzen → Menu's (Services & prices → Packages).
The form
Wat is het — what is it
| Field | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Naam (name) | yes | its own name, not the whole path — volledig hoofd is enough |
| Hangt onder (sits under) | no | leave empty if the client lands here straight away; pick a menu and that menu becomes a choice step |
| Categorie (category) | no | from the existing package categories; only useful if you sort them yourself — a tree already sorts itself |
| Omschrijving (description) | no | |
| Diensten in dit menu (services in this package) | no | a picklist in which you tick several; disappears as soon as another menu sits under this one |
Prijs en boeking — price and booking
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Prijs (price) | Leeg = de som van de losse diensten. — empty = the sum of the individual services. A choice step has no such field: it sells nothing |
| Online boekbaar (bookable online) | on by default |
| Alleen voor bestaande klanten (existing clients only) | off by default |
| Actief (active) | on by default |
In the list, the price column reads literally som van de diensten (sum of the services) when the amount is empty.
On the booking page
The client gets one question at a time. They tap coupe en kleuring, then NL Women, then Highlights, and only on the last screen does the price appear: € 265. Above the list is the path they took, and every step in it leads back.
If there is no tree — a menu with nothing underneath — it is simply one button, at the top, before the individual services.
Once the client has answered one question, the individual services drop out of view: that choice has already been made.
If you work with questions, that tree is your offer: the individual services no longer sit underneath it. They only appear at a salon that offers packages alongside its services — there a package is an extra, not the offer.
A package only appears online once it has a price and services. Without services there is nothing to plan, and without a price an amount would have to be invented. So always check both the Diensten in dit menu field and the Prijs field. The same goes for the diary: such a package is greyed out there, with the reason beside it, and cannot be tapped.
At the till
There is a separate Menu's (packages) tab. One tap puts the package on the receipt as a single line, at the package price.
With the assistant
The package price can also be spoken or typed into the assistant's box: het pakket kleuring dames kost voortaan 95 euro (the ladies' colouring package now costs 95 euros). You see the old and the new price, and confirm.
It is one price that changes, and nothing else: the separate services keep their rate, and the assistant adds nothing up and splits nothing. If several formulas share a name — volledig hoofd seven times in a tree — it asks which one, with the path. A choice step has no price and so cannot be chosen.
The screen
Not a list but a tree, all on one page — no pagination bar to click through.
- The arrow on the left opens or closes a question. The questions at the top are open, the rest is collapsed.
- Alles openen (open all) / Alles sluiten (close all) do it in one go.
- Search shows the hits flat, each with its path underneath. Useful, because seven packages can be called volledig hoofd.
Behind every row is what you need to know: for a question, how many choices sit under it; for a package, the number of services and the price. If something is missing it says so in red — geen diensten or geen prijs — because such a package does not go online.
Hover over a row (or tap it on a tablet) and four buttons appear:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| ↑ and ↓ | moves the row one place up or down among the rows at the same level |
| + | creates something under this row — Hangt onder is already filled in |
| ✎ | opens the form |
If there is nothing yet: Nog geen menu's — Bundel diensten die vaak samen geboekt worden tot één keuze met één prijs. — no packages yet — bundle services that are often booked together into one choice with one price.
Migrated from Optios
At Optios a package is exactly the same thing: a fixed bundle with a price of its own. A colour includes a wash, a cut does too — but colour and cut together only gets washed once, so that package costs less than the two services separately.
The import copies both that package price and the services it contains straight from your Optios file. From one salon's migration: nl kleur volledig hoofd costs € 186 on its own, but € 96 inside the coupe en kleuring package — together with the € 64 cut that makes a package price of € 160, not € 250.
Two things to know:
- Optios nests its packages more deeply than HairConnect does. The top layer becomes the category; the layers in between are put in front of the name, separated by
>. That way NL Women > Highlights > volledig hoofd still tells you which head is meant — without that path seven packages would all be called volledig hoofd. - If Optios gives no price, the field stays empty and the package appears under Migratie → Opkuisvoorstellen (clean-up suggestions). A price is never added up from the individual services: that would be an invented price, and usually too high a one.
If the import runs a second time, whatever you changed on a package yourself stays — the price included.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a package take in the calendar? As long as the services attached to it, each with its own duration and processing time. The price is one amount; the time stays the sum of the parts.
Where do I create package categories? There is no management screen for that. The picklist only shows categories that are already in the database.
Where do I create package categories? There is no management screen for that. The picklist only shows categories already in the database. If you work with a tree you do not need them: the tree is the sorting.
Why are there fewer packages in the diary than in the back office? At the counter you only see the packages — what can actually be booked. The questions in between are for the client online. The path is shown under each name, so you can see which of the seven volledig hoofd you are tapping.
Can I give a choice step a price? No, and that is deliberate. It would sit on a button that only leads to the next question.
