Mollie and the card terminal
Updated on 2026-08-24
Mollie
(Pay with the card reader at the desk, and let clients pay a deposit or gift card online.)
Instellingen → Koppelingen → Betalen → Mollie → Instellen.
| Field | Required | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
(Found in your Mollie dashboard under Developers → API keys. Starts with live_ or test_.) |
The key belongs to the salon; which card reader hangs on which till is recorded per till.
The test
Click Verbinding testen (test connection). Possible answers:
- 2 kaartlezer(s) gevonden (eerste: …). (2 card reader(s) found (first: …).)
(The key is correct, but no card reader is attached to this Mollie account.)
- Mollie weigert deze sleutel. (Mollie refuses this key.)
- Er staat nog geen API-sleutel ingevuld. (No API key has been filled in yet.)
- Mollie is niet bereikbaar. Netwerkprobleem? (Mollie cannot be reached. Network problem?)
At the till
If you take payment with a method that runs through the terminal, the till waits for the card reader. See Checking out and closing.
Stripe
(Paying online by card, and card readers at the desk via Stripe Terminal.)
Not available yet, but you can already fill in the keys and test them.
| Field | Required | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Geheime sleutel (secret key) | yes | Stripe dashboard → Developers → API keys → Secret key, starts with sk_live_ or sk_test_ |
| Publieke sleutel (publishable key) | no | same screen, starts with pk_; it goes into the payment page and is not secret |
The test says which account answers and how many card readers hang off it. Two things to know:
- An account that is not yet allowed to take payments is not a passed test. That is the error you would otherwise discover the moment somebody is standing there to pay.
- No card reader is not an error here — unlike Mollie. Stripe is also used purely online, without a device at the desk.
Switching on is not possible yet: the till takes payment through Mollie, and no screen starts a Stripe payment.
Bancontact Pro
(The client pays with their Bancontact app: they scan a code or tap the link, without a separate card reader.)
Not available yet, but you can already fill in the details.
Note: this is not the classic terminal. It is the QR flow — you create a payment and the client settles it by scanning or tapping with their Bancontact app. For a salon with an iPad at the desk that is often handier than a separate device.
| Field | Required | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| API-sleutel (API key) | yes | ask your contact at Bancontact; the test environment has a different key from production |
| Product-id | yes | the id of your Bancontact product |
| Omgeving (environment) | yes | start in the test environment; only move to production once you have seen a test payment succeed |
For this integration you read Deze koppeling kent geen proef (this integration has no test), and that is not an oversight: the only Bancontact Pro call we know of creates a payment. A test button would therefore leave a real open payment behind.
Switching on is not possible yet: no screen starts such a payment. For the classic Worldline terminal we still have no connection details.
Europabank Tap to Pay
(Paying on the iPhone or iPad itself, without a separate card reader at the desk.)
Not available yet.
(Waiting for the Tap to Pay contract with Europabank and the Apple entitlements that go with it.)
Deposits online
Today there is no payment step in the online booking. The field Voorschot (deposit) on a service and the tick box Voorschot verplicht (deposit required) on a client record are stored, but nothing is charged when booking.
