What the customer portal is
Updated on 2026-08-22
The customer portal is where your client finds their own details: their appointments, their colour history, their receipts and their gift cards. It sits underneath your booking page, at .../en/your-salon/portaal, and appears in the footer of every booking page under the link My salon.
The confirmation email carries the button Manage my appointments, which leads there.
The five tabs
At the top of every page you see Hello {first name} with a Sign out button.
| Tab | What the client finds there |
|---|---|
| My appointments | upcoming appointments and previous visits; cancelling and rescheduling |
| My colour | the colour history, with a swatch per visit |
| Purchases and receipts | what they bought, per receipt |
| Gift cards | the outstanding balance per card |
| Preferences | reminders, regular staff member, details |
Why you switch it on
- Fewer phone calls. Whoever forgot their time looks it up themselves.
- Fewer no-shows. A client who can reschedule reschedules, instead of not turning up.
- Less work on privacy questions. The client can download their own data and submit a deletion request themselves.
What the client may do
Yes:
- cancel an appointment, within the deadline you set;
- reschedule an appointment, within that same deadline;
- switch email reminders on or off;
- pick a regular staff member or set it to No preference;
- download their data and submit a deletion request;
- book a new appointment.
No:
- change their name, email address or phone number — those stay off the client record;
- change the services of an existing appointment;
- switch staff member while rescheduling: the search runs with the same services and the same staff member;
- change colour formulas or receipts;
- redeem a gift card — that happens at the till.
What the client does not get to see
Your internal markers: Topklant (top client), Geblokkeerd voor online boeken (blocked for online booking), Voorschot verplicht (deposit required) and the visit count. And your notes — those are not even in the data export.
Setting it up
The portal belongs to your booking page and has no settings screen of its own. What steers it:
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| how far in advance cancelling and rescheduling are allowed | Instellingen → Online boeken (online booking) |
| whether prices are shown | Instellingen → Online boeken |
| colours and logo | Instellingen → Huisstijl (branding) |
| a custom address for the portal | Instellingen → E-mail |
