Creating a service
Updated on 2026-08-22
A service is what you offer: a cut, a colour, a blow-dry, a treatment. Without services there is nothing to plan and nothing to book online.
Where do I find it?
Salon → Diensten (Salon → Services). The button to add one is at the top right.
Create your service categories first: then you can put the service straight into its place.
The form
Wat is het — what is it
| Field | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Interne naam (internal name) | yes | Zoals het salon het noemt, bv. "nl women". — the way the salon calls it, e.g. "nl women". |
| Naam voor de klant (name for the client) | no | Wat de klant online ziet. Laat leeg om de interne naam te tonen. — what the client sees online. Leave empty to show the internal name. |
| Categorie (category) | no | |
| Kleur in de agenda (colour in the calendar) | no | |
| Omschrijving (description) | no |
The Naam voor de klant field exists because internal names such as "nl women" or "ul men" mean nothing to a client. Online, HairConnect shows that name; internally your own wording stays.
Tijd — time
De wachttijd is de inwerktijd. Daarin is de medewerker vrij voor een andere klant — daar wordt de agenda mee gevuld. — the waiting time is the processing time. During it the staff member is free for another client — that is what fills the calendar.
| Field | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Duur (duration) | yes | in minutes, minimum 5, in steps of 5 |
| Wachttijd (processing time) | yes | in minutes; 0 als de medewerker de hele tijd bezig is. — 0 if the staff member is busy the whole time. |
See Setting the processing time — that is the field this whole package revolves around.
Prijs — price
| Field | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Prijs (price) | yes | in euros, with the € sign in front |
| Btw (VAT) | yes | percentage, 21 by default |
| Voorschot (deposit) | no | Leeg = geen voorschot — empty = no deposit |
The Voorschot field is not enforced anywhere today. There is no payment step in online booking. The amount is stored, nothing more.
Online boeking — online booking
Four switches:
| Switch | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Online boekbaar (bookable online) | on | |
| Klant mag medewerker kiezen (client may choose the staff member) | on | |
| Alleen voor bestaande klanten (existing clients only) | off | to limit no-shows among new clients |
| Actief (active) | on |
If you switch on Alleen voor bestaande klanten, the server decides who counts as an existing client: on the email address or on the normalised phone number.
The list
| Column | Contents |
|---|---|
| Dienst (service) | the internal name, with the client-facing name underneath |
| Categorie (category) | |
| Duur (duration) | in minutes |
| Wachttijd (processing time) | in minutes, or — when zero; copper-coloured when there is processing time |
| Stoeltijd (chair time) | duration + processing time — how long the chair is occupied |
| Prijs (price) | |
| Online and Actief (active) | checkmarks |
Filters: Categorie, Met wachttijd (with processing time) and Online boekbaar.
If there is nothing yet: Nog geen diensten — Zonder diensten valt er niets in te plannen en niets online te boeken. Begin met wat je het vaakst doet: knippen, kleuren, föhnen. — no services yet — without services there is nothing to plan and nothing to book online. Start with what you do most often: cutting, colouring, blow-drying.
Taking a service out of use
Switch Actief off. The service stays in the history but disappears from the lists. With Verwijderen (delete) it goes to the bin and you can Herstellen (restore) it later.
What ends up in the audit log
A price change is recorded — price, deposit and VAT. A name or duration change is not.
A service that changes name or duration is an organisational choice; a service that changes price is a difference in revenue that can no longer be explained a month later.
Frequently asked questions
I want a junior to take longer over it. You don't set that here, but per staff member: Salon → Medewerkers (Salon → Staff), section Diensten (services). See Services per staff member.
Where do I manage VAT rates? Nowhere centrally. You type the percentage in per service and per product.
