The time clock

Updated on 2026-08-22

One tap to clock in or out. Meant for an iPad on the wall, not for a desk: large areas, little text, and at a glance who is in and for how long.

Where do I find this?

Salon → Prikklok (time clock). Under the title stands today's date, written out in full.

Who appears there

Only staff members with Moet prikken (must clock in) switched on (Salon → Medewerkers) who are not out of service. The owner who does not clock in does not belong on a time clock screen.

If there is nobody, you read: Niemand hoort te prikken. Zet "Moet prikken" aan bij een medewerker onder Salon › Medewerkers.Nobody is supposed to clock in. Switch on "Moet prikken" for a staff member under Salon › Medewerkers.

What is on a card

From top to bottom:

  1. the staff member's name;
  2. Binnen sinds 08:32 (in since 08:32) — or Niet ingeklokt (not clocked in);
  3. a large counter: the running punch (3 u 07) if someone is in, otherwise the total already clocked today;
  4. the caption vandaag al 6 u 40 (already 6 u 40 today) or vandaag gewerkt (worked today);
  5. at the bottom the button Afklokken (clock out — green) or Aanklokken (clock in — dark).

Whoever is in gets a thick green border on the left; whoever is out, a grey one. That is visible from the other side of the salon, including for anyone who distinguishes colours less well.

The counter visibly ticks on; the screen itself refreshes every half minute.

Clocking

Tap the card. Whoever is in clocks out; whoever is out clocks in.

  • {Naam} is ingeklokt ({Name} has clocked in)Om 08:32. (At 08:32.)
  • {Naam} is afgeklokt ({Name} has clocked out)Vandaag 6 u 40 gewerkt in deze prikbeurt. (6 u 40 worked today in this punch.)

If something goes wrong, you read Prikken lukt niet (clocking failed) with the reason:

  • {Naam} is al ingeklokt sinds 22/08/2026 08:32. Klok eerst af.{Name} has already been clocked in since 22/08/2026 08:32. Clock out first.
  • {Naam} is niet ingeklokt.{Name} is not clocked in.
  • {Naam} hoort niet te prikken.{Name} is not supposed to clock in.

A time clock that quietly does nothing lets someone believe they have clocked. Hence every error is reported out loud.

There is no PIN code

The screen has no personal sign-in per staff member. Whoever has the panel open can clock for everyone. So put the device somewhere that suits.

How the time is counted

  • Times are stored to the minute. Seconds suggest a precision that a time clock on the wall does not have.
  • Hours are always shown as 7 u 25, never as a decimal figure.
  • A punch counts towards the day on which it started, even across midnight.
  • The night of the clock change lasts 23 or 25 hours, and whoever works that night gets paid 23 or 25 hours — not 24.

An end time is never invented

If someone forgets to clock out, the punch stays open. HairConnect never fills in that end time itself. An invented end time is an invented wage.

Open punches count nowhere until someone puts them right. Where to find them and how to correct them is in Checking and correcting punches.

Frequently asked questions

There are three screens called "Prikklok". Correct. Salon → Prikklok is the tap screen, Salon → Prikklok-overzicht (time clock overview) is the week with the corrections, and Rapporten → Prikklok (reports → time clock) is the monthly report.
