The starter services

Updated on 2026-08-23

A new salon gets a handful of services, so there is something to plan straight away. They are meant to be adjusted — and they may simply go.

What you get

Nine common services in three categories, with a duration and, where it applies, a processing time.

Service Category Duration Processing time
Knippen dames (women's cut) Knippen 45 min
Knippen heren (men's cut) Knippen 30 min
Knippen kind (child's cut) Knippen 20 min
Wassen en föhnen (wash and blow-dry) Verzorging 30 min
Verzorgende kuur (treatment) Verzorging 15 min 15 min
Kleuring volledig hoofd (full-head colour) Kleuren 30 min 30 min
Uitgroei bijwerken (root touch-up) Kleuren 25 min 25 min
Highlights Kleuren 60 min 35 min
Permanent (perm) Kleuren 45 min 20 min

The opening hours of an ordinary salon week are ready as well: open Tuesday to Saturday, closed Monday and Sunday, with a late Thursday. See Opening hours.

The prices are € 0. That is deliberate.

A price is your decision. We do not know it, so we do not fill it in — a plausible but wrong amount would otherwise end up on a till receipt, and that is a tax document.

That is also why the starter services are not bookable online. A client should not be able to book a € 0 service. Once you have entered the price and checked the duration, you put the service online yourself: Salon → Diensten (services), field Online boekbaar (bookable online).

The duration is a starting point, not a measurement

The minutes above are what is common, not what it takes at your salon. Check them before you switch on online booking: a cut that really takes a quarter of an hour longer puts your calendar further behind every single day.

The same goes for the processing time. That field is the heart of this package — it is what lets you serve a second client during a colour. See Setting the processing time.

What you do not get

No customers, no appointments, no till receipts, no turnover.

That is a deliberate choice. A calendar full of invented appointments looks busier, but the first report you open then shows turnover you never made — and afterwards it can no longer be separated from your real figures. Your calendar fills up through structure: your opening hours, your staff as columns, your services with their real times.

Your salon name, address, phone number and VAT number stay empty too. We would rather ask for those than invent them. See Setting up the salon.

Taking over a starter service

If you change the name, the duration, the processing time or the price of a starter service, from that moment it is yours. HairConnect drops the "starter data" mark, and the command that cleans up starter data will never touch it again.

So there is nothing special to do: rename "Knippen dames" to whatever you call it, put your price on it, and the service is yours.

What does not remove the mark: dragging a service in the list, giving it a colour, or switching it off temporarily. That is tidying the list.

Removing them all

Coming from another package, or is your own service list already finished? Then the starter services are just noise.

  • One by one: Salon → Diensten (services), open the service and delete it.
  • In one go: ask us. We then run a single command that removes all starter data for your salon — the services, their categories and the opening hours you have not touched yet.

That clean-up leaves three kinds of rows alone:

  1. everything you created yourself;
  2. every starter service you have taken over (renamed, or with a changed price or duration);
  3. every starter service that real data hangs on — an appointment in the calendar, a line on a receipt, a waiting-list request or a menu you put together yourself. Those are reported to you instead of lost.

A category stays as long as there is still a service in it.

Frequently asked questions

I renamed a starter service and it is still there after the clean-up. Is that right? Yes. By renaming it you took it over; it no longer counts as starter data. Just delete it yourself if you do not want it.

Our colour takes 40 minutes instead of 30. Adjust it. The starter values are a starting point; your calendar should run on your times.

Can I have the starter services installed again later? Yes. Whatever is still in place is left alone; only what is missing comes back. Nothing is ever overwritten.
