Closing days

Updated on 2026-08-22

Instellingen → Sluitingsdagen (Settings → Closing days).

This is where you enter the days on which the whole salon is closed. The booking page no longer offers those days, and the calendar puts the name of the closure above the day.

What this is for

Opening hours apply per weekday: open every Tuesday from 9 to 18. A closing day applies to a date — the collective holiday, the fair Monday, the day the floor is replaced.

Opening hours Closing days
applies per weekday date or period
used for your ordinary week leave, public holidays, building works

Adding a closure

Click Nieuw (New). Three fields:

Field Explanation
This name is what appears in the calendar. Write it the way you would say it to a client: "Collectief verlof", not "verlof2".
Van (from) the first day you are closed
Tot en met (up to and including) the last day you are closed — that day is still included

Closing for a single day? Put the same date in both fields. Fill in Van and Tot en met follows along by itself; you only adjust it for a longer period.

Whoever enters 20/07 up to and including 02/08 is still closed on 2 August and reopens on 3 August.

Taking over the Belgian public holidays

The Belgische feestdagen (Belgian public holidays) button at the top shows the ten legal public holidays of a year — including Easter Monday, Ascension Day and Whit Monday, which fall on a different date every year.

You tick which ones you close. That is deliberate:

A public holiday does not close a hair salon by itself. People marry on 15 August, and the Saturday before Christmas is the busiest day of the year. Anything that assumed you were closed would close your calendar on a day you are open — and you would not notice, because then simply nobody calls.

Whatever you do not tick stays bookable. The name of the public holiday appears in the calendar either way.

Public holidays already covered by a closure — 21 July inside your summer leave, for instance — are no longer in the list. So you cannot create a duplicate closure.

The Jaar (year) dropdown shows this year and the two following ones.

The list

Column What you see
Sluiting (closure) the name; if it is also a legal public holiday, that is shown underneath
Van / Tot en met (from / up to and including) the first and the last day
Dagen (days) how many days the closure covers, boundaries included
the badge on the right nu dicht (closed now), komt eraan (coming up) or voorbij (past)

The Voorbije sluitingen verbergen (hide past closures) toggle is on. Switch it off to see your history; nothing is deleted.

Changing and deleting

Click a row to edit it. Delete with Verwijderen (delete), on the row or at the top of the edit screen.

If you delete a closure, that day immediately reopens for online bookings. So do check that this is what you want.

What changes straight away

  • The booking page no longer offers those days, not even if someone is rostered.
  • The calendar gets a red strip at the top reading Gesloten (closed) and the name.
  • The free-slot finder skips those days.

What this does not do

  • It does not notify your clients. Appointments already in the calendar stay there. They are not cancelled and no mail goes out. So check your calendar before you enter a closure.
  • It applies to the whole salon. If one employee is away but you stay open, use Absences instead.
  • School holidays are not included. HairConnect does not know them and does not invent them; if you want to allow for them, enter them yourself as a closure or leave them open.
