Brands and logos
Updated on 2026-09-30
Brands group the products in the stock list and on the receipt.
Where do I find it?
Instellingen → Merken (Settings → Brands). You can also create one from the product form, using the + next to the Merk (brand) field.
The form
Three fields.
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Merk (brand) | yes | |
| Leverancier (supplier) | no | the wholesaler this brand comes in through |
| Logo | no | png, jpeg or webp, up to 4 MB, with a cropping tool (free, 1:1, 16:9 or 4:3) |
No svg. The cropping tool works on pixels, and a vector put through a pixel editor comes out worse.
Below the upload field you see where the current logo came from. If there is no logo yet:
Nog geen logo. Haal het van de officiële site van het merk — een salon mag het logo van zijn leveranciers tonen, een logoverzamelsite geeft die grondslag niet.
(No logo yet. Take it from the brand's official site — a salon may show the logo of its suppliers, a logo collection site does not provide those grounds.)
Which wholesaler does this brand come in through?
That is the Leverancier (supplier) field, and it exists for one reason: ordering hangs on the supplier record, and most products carry none.
At the first salon that migrated, 1,118 of 1,326 products had no supplier at all — Optios does not supply one per product, only per delivery. Those products therefore never appeared in an order proposal, not even the ones sold that week. The brand, on the other hand, was filled in everywhere.
Fill in the supplier here and every product of this brand that carries none itself inherits yours. Once per brand, instead of a thousand times per product.
The product's own record always wins. If you happen to buy one article of this brand elsewhere, you put that supplier on the product itself and nothing changes for the rest.
Empty stays empty. Fill in nothing and nothing is invented: those products stay in the order without a supplier, exactly as today.
Below the field you see what the products of this brand say about it themselves — for example "Producten van dit merk die zelf een leverancier dragen, wijzen naar: Mario Wella frequent (14)" (products of this brand that carry a supplier themselves point to…). That is a measured hint, not a filled-in value: you decide.
What happens when you upload a logo yourself
Two things are updated automatically, and that is on purpose:
-
The thumbnail. The list shows a scaled-down version; if that stays at the old value, the logo has been replaced but you cannot see it.
-
The origin. The grounds "fetched from the official brand site on that date" no longer hold for a file you uploaded yourself. It is therefore overwritten to:
Handmatig aangeleverd via het merkscherm; herkomst niet automatisch vastgesteld. (Supplied manually through the brand screen; origin not established automatically.)
If you delete the logo, the whole origin is cleared as well.
The list
Logo, Merk (brand), Leverancier (supplier) and Producten (products — the count). The Zonder leverancier (without supplier) filter shows in one click which brands still have none — that is the clean-up list, because every brand there with products behind it is a stack of bottles you cannot order. There is also a Herkomst logo (logo origin) column, hidden by default, with the values Merksite (brand site), Verdeler (distributor) or Handmatig (manual).
At the top sits Toon (show), set to Actieve merken (active brands) by default. Choose Opgeborgen (stored away) to see the brands you no longer carry, or Alle merken (all brands) for the whole list. The Opgeborgen op (stored away on) column is hidden by default.
If there is nothing yet: Nog geen merken — Merken groeperen de producten in de voorraadlijst en op de kassabon. (No brands yet — Brands group the products in the stock list and on the receipt.)
The same brand twice
If you came from Optios, your list almost certainly contains duplicates. Optios stores a brand name exactly as typed, so "Wella" and "wella" are two brands there — and on import they become two brands here as well.
This is more than untidiness. A product finds its wholesaler through its brand. If one half of your Wella products sits under "Wella" and the other under "wella", that second half falls outside your order. And now that your supplier's promotions are counted, a brand also counts towards a threshold: a promotion on "Wella" does not count the products under "wella", making a tier look further away than it is.
Open the brand that should go and choose Merge with another brand. The dialog first shows how many products move — archived ones included — and how many promotions count on this brand. Those promotions will count on the other brand from then on.
The brand you are on is the one that disappears. So you open "wella" and choose "Wella", not the other way round. To merge three brands, do it twice.
This cannot be undone. What disappeared — the name, the wholesaler, the logo and the counts — is kept in the log, which is enough to recreate the brand by hand. If the surviving brand has no logo it takes over the one from the removed brand; if it already has one, that stays.
A new import does not undo your clean-up. HairConnect remembers that the Optios brand "wella" belongs to your brand "Wella": if you read your Optios file in again later, those products simply end up under "Wella" again instead of the removed brand being recreated. The same goes for a category you renamed and for merged supplier records. If you changed something here and that same field also changed at Optios in the meantime, the import does not choose: what is here stays, and the case appears under Opkuisvoorstellen (clean-up suggestions) with both values side by side.
Removing a brand
There is a bin next to every row, and the same button sits at the top of the edit page. A brand with no products attached disappears for good.
If a product is attached, the brand is stored away instead of deleted. Deleting would take every one of those products its brand away, with no way back. A stored-away brand disappears from the brand list and from every dropdown — for a new product, in the brand filter of the product list, for a supplier promotion — but every product, receipt and delivery keeps its brand. If a product is still under a stored-away brand, its record simply shows that brand.
To bring it back, use Toon → Opgeborgen (show → stored away) and the Terughalen (bring back) button next to the brand. If a product goes back on the shelf under a stored-away brand through the Wella price list, that brand returns to the active ones by itself.
If it is really the same brand as another one, use Samenvoegen (merge) above instead: the products move along with it.
Frequently asked questions
If I set a supplier on a brand, does that change my old orders or receipts? No. The field only works forward, when a new order proposal is composed. Anything already ordered or sold stays unchanged.
Why isn't my logo stretched until the frame is full? It is fitted, not cropped. Logos range from square to four times as wide as they are tall; stretching turns a trademark into a caricature.
