Moving from Salonkee to HairConnect

This move hangs on one question: will you get your data out? We found neither an export nor an API published anywhere. That does not make it impossible, but it does make it something to start early.

What we know about this one

Which kind of data comes across in full, what ends up in an archive and how the cutover runs are described once — the same for every package: the general switching policy.

  • There is no publicly documented API. No developer portal exists, and Salonkee's GitHub organisation holds three repositories, all three forks of other people's projects. The old documentation section on pro.salonkee.com no longer exists and redirects to a marketing page.
  • There is no publicly documented export function for your clients, your appointments or your sales. The only download they mention themselves is an accounting report formatted for DATEV systems. Useful for your bookkeeper, insufficient to rebuild a calendar.
  • According to their privacy policy your data sits on AWS servers in Frankfurt, with possible backups in Paris or Amsterdam — so within the EEA. That makes a request under the GDPR simpler than if it sat outside Europe.
  • The guidance Salonkee promises when changing systems is about coming in, not about leaving. On the way out their site says nothing.
  • Your salon page on salonkee.be and the visibility that comes with it are theirs. They do not move with you.

What we do not know

This gets the same billing as the rest. A switching plan that lists only the certainties is not a plan but a sales pitch.

  • Whether the Salonkee back office does after all hold an export button that only logged-in salons see. We have never had an account and we are not going to take one to check. Either way it is described nowhere publicly, and that in itself is information.
  • In what format Salonkee delivers your data if you ask for it, and how long that takes.
  • Whether colour formulas, photos on the client file and completed forms come along in such a delivery, and whether they are structured or reduced to one long text per client.
  • What happens contractually on cancellation: which notice period applies, what is still invoiced, and how long you keep access to your data. No salon agreement is on their site.
  • What becomes of outstanding gift vouchers and subscriptions your clients bought through Salonkee.

What you arrange yourself

  • Request your data in writing before you cancel, and make that the very first step. Article 20 of the GDPR gives you the right to your own data in a machine-readable format. Ask explicitly for clients, appointment history, services and prices, sales, colour formulas and forms.
  • Ask for your agreement at the same time, with the contract length and notice period in it. It is not on their site, so you have to ask.
  • Stop nothing until your new calendar is running. A notice period that starts before your export arrives is the most expensive kind of haste.
  • Pull your accounting reports while you still have access. Those you can download, and your bookkeeper will need them later.
  • Think about your visibility after the marketplace: your Google profile, your own site, and the clients you already have. We give you software, not reach.
Can you pull my data straight out of Salonkee?
No, and we do not pretend otherwise. There is no public API and no documented export. You request the data — you are their customer, not us — and we convert whatever you receive.
How long does a move like this take?
Four to eight weeks, and most of that is waiting for your export. With a package that has no export button, that wait tends to be longer rather than shorter.
What if they deliver nothing?
You still have a right, and it is enforceable at the Data Protection Authority. Practically, we then build on whatever you can print or download yourself, and that is less. Which is why the first step is the request, not the cancellation.
Do I lose my reviews?
The reviews on your Salonkee salon page stay there. That is a real loss and we do not pretend it is not.
