HairConnect vs Salonkee
Salonkee is salon software and a marketplace at once, born in Luxembourg and active in Belgium. This comparison starts with the amount on their pricing page, because there is exactly one.
Salonkee S.A. is a Luxembourg company registered at Centre Orchimont, 36-38 Rangwee, L-2412 Luxembourg, RCS B207855. For Belgium there is a dedicated site, salonkee.be, in Dutch and French, where consumers look for a hairdresser, barber or institute in Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Liège, Charleroi and some twenty other cities. On the salon side it is called Salonkee Pro.
The software comes in three packages. The Start package includes among other things the calendar, an internet page, online bookings, client files, SMS reminders and a waiting list. The till only arrives with the Plus package, together with stock management, promo codes, gift vouchers and accounting reports. Marketing campaigns, loyalty points, forms and human resources only arrive with the Business package.
Alongside those there are three separate modules: Salonkee Payments (to be added to Plus or Business), Popcall for caller ID on incoming calls, and a Website Builder.
Their pricing page carries one figure: "starting at 49.- / month". No amount appears on any of the three packages, nor on the modules. There is not even a currency symbol next to that number, and nowhere does it say whether it is per salon or per employee, including or excluding VAT, or whether a minimum term applies. We do not fill that gap in.
No salon contract is public. The terms and conditions their own footer links to are about the user who books an appointment. Contract length and notice period for a salon are therefore nowhere you can read them before the sales call.

Where they are stronger
- They bring reach. Someone searching salonkee.be for a hairdresser in Ghent or Charleroi finds salons we never put in front of anyone. That is a real advantage and we have nothing to set against it.
- They go wider than hair alone. Barbershops, nail studios, facials, massage, tattoo: anyone doing more than hair finds one system for the whole of it.
- Their site exists fully in Dutch and French, with a Belgian entrance of its own. In this country that is not a detail.
- They guide you in: their own team helps you move over from paper, an old till or other software. That genuinely lowers the threshold, even if we add a caveat below about how well that works according to some users.
- Their accounting reports are formatted for DATEV. If your bookkeeper works with it, that saves work.
Where we do it differently
- You know what it costs before you call. Our rate is written out on the pricing page, VAT stated, with what is included and what may be added. With them it starts with a demo appointment.
- One package instead of three. The till is not behind a second step and the reports not behind a third. A salon that grows does not pay us more because it uses more.
- Cancellable monthly, and it says so. What a salon signs with them cannot be read publicly.
- We are built for the work at the chair: processing time as a separate block, colour formulas per visit down to the gram, several staff on one bill. That is depth in one trade, not width across ten.
- Your clients are yours. There is no marketplace where someone booking with you is shown the salon two streets over.
- What does Salonkee cost?
- Their own pricing page carries one sentence: "starting at 49.- / month". No amount appears on the three packages. Full price lists do circulate elsewhere on the web, but they do not come from Salonkee and they carry the label "per user" — and whether that is right, we do not know. Ask them, and ask straight away whether it is per salon or per employee.
- Is that 49 including VAT?
- It does not say. There is not even a currency symbol. We do not fill that gap in.
- Am I tied into an annual contract with Salonkee?
- We cannot check, because no salon agreement is on their site — the terms their footer links to are about whoever books an appointment. On Trustpilot one salon owner writes that the sales conversation left him with the impression that monthly cancellation was possible, and that he later turned out to be tied in for a year. We do not know whether that is the rule or a misunderstanding. Ask for the agreement in writing before you sign.
- Is there a setup fee?
- Not on their pricing page. Febelhair, the Belgian hairdressers' federation, does list on its members page a reduced price of € 299 instead of € 499 for installation, support included. That is a third party, not Salonkee, and what a non-member pays we do not know.
- What do other salons say?
- On Trustpilot salonkee.com stands at 4.7 from 913 reviews. Read that figure carefully: the profile covers the site where consumers book their appointments, so part of those reviews come from salon customers rather than salon owners. Among the negative reviews that do come from owners, one subject keeps returning: contract length and invoices after cancelling. Capterra shows a 5.0, but it rests on a single review and therefore says nothing.
