Switching

Switching from Fresha to HairConnect

Technically this is the easiest switch in this list, and at the same time the most dangerous one to get in the wrong order. Fresha lets you download your data yourself — but the moment you cancel your subscription, you lose access to your workspace. Export first.

What we know about this one

Which kind of data comes across in full, what ends up in an archive and how the cutover runs are described once — the same for every package: the general switching policy.

  • You can download your client list yourself, in Excel or CSV, via Clients, Clients list, then the Options button. Who may do it is governed by the "Can download clients" permission. This is in their own help centre.
  • Appointments can be exported from the appointments list, filtered by client or by date range, in PDF, CSV or Excel. Reports come out in PDF, CSV or XLSX, but one report at a time: by their own FAQ there is no way to export everything at once.
  • Client card details do not come with you. They write it themselves: those are stored encrypted and cannot be exported or transferred. That is correct and as it should be, but it means your clients' saved cards disappear in a switch.
  • There is a Data connector: a paid add-on at € 215 per location a month that opens up your raw Fresha data through Snowflake credentials, with a one-way sync outwards and a seven-day trial. Their documentation describes sixteen tables — among them bookings, clients, payments, sales, services, team members and reviews — down to column level. It is meant for reporting, not as a moving box, but it is the only route to your raw data.
  • If you cancel your subscription, then by their own help centre access to your workspace is removed and your marketplace profile is unlisted. Your reviews are not deleted but are no longer visible; they come back if you reactivate.

What we do not know

This gets the same billing as the rest. A switching plan that lists only the certainties is not a plan but a sales pitch.

  • Whether there is a public API. We found none: nowhere on their site is there a reference to developer documentation, and the address developers.fresha.com does not even exist in DNS. What circulates about a Fresha API comes from comparison and scraping services, not from Fresha. So we write: no publicly documented API.
  • Whether colour formulas, consultation notes, staff alerts or files attached to a client record end up in any export. They appear in no export column we saw documented. For a hair salon this is precisely the part that weighs heaviest, and we do not know.
  • What exactly the columns of the client export contain. Their help centre names the format, not the fields.
  • Whether the 30 days' notice in their partner terms also applies when you cancel the subscription yourself on screen, and at what moment access then falls away.
Your part

What you arrange yourself

  • Export everything before you cancel anything. Client list, appointments, and every report you need, one by one. Once the subscription stops, the workspace is gone — that is their wording, not ours.
  • Check your client export for what is not in it. Notes, formulas, files: if they are not there, this is the moment to decide what you will carry over by hand.
  • Ask Fresha in writing for your data in a machine-readable format if the export looks too thin to you. Article 20 of the GDPR gives you that right, and their partner terms contain a clause in which both parties assist each other with such requests.
  • Only give notice once your new calendar is running, and allow for the 30 days in their terms. Ask them to confirm in writing, at the point of notice, exactly when your access ends.
  • Think about your visibility after the marketplace. If part of your new clients arrived through fresha.com, that channel falls away. We give you software, not reach.
Can I get my data out of Fresha myself?
Yes, and that is a point in their favour. The client list goes to your device as Excel or CSV, appointments and reports as PDF, CSV or XLSX. Reports one at a time though. For the raw underlying data there is a paid add-on at € 215 per location a month.
Do I take my reviews with me?
No. Reviews on the Fresha marketplace live on their platform. By their own help centre they are not deleted when you cancel but become invisible to clients. They do not move with you, and that is a real loss.
What happens to the cards clients saved with Fresha?
They stay there. Fresha writes itself that card details are encrypted and cannot be exported or transferred. Clients who prepaid with you using a saved card will have to enter it again.
